The thread also references it being used on a laptop, which throws in a sizable chunk of power management quirks and BIOS hacks, on top of it being ExpressCard device.

So far I've been able to deal with this because my USB 3.0 drives are just being using for backups. So the USB 3.0 ports do work, but not for USB 3.0 devices. However, I can get USB 2.0 devices to work in the USB 3.0 ports.
